Artist History
Violet High are a four piece band from Croydon, South London, U.K. We formed in October 1999 when guitarist Jason and vocalist/guitarist Neil decided to form a band whilst in the changing rooms after a football match. After finding a bass player and a drummer with some difficulty and and a lot of luck, we started rehearsing in various people's bedrooms then in a small community hall. We eventually moved on to the more plush surroundings of a proper rehearsal studio where we have been ever since. The main factor that has kept us at this studio for so long is the presence of a mini bar! We recorded our first demo in February 2002 which includes 6 of our songs with a mixture of new and old material to highlight our progression over the years. Our main influences include Bush, cyclefly, nirvana, silverchair and the deftones and would say that we sound similar to cyclefly musically but I would like to think we have our own style. Our method of writing usually comes in the form of Jason writing some music bringing it to the studio and Neil adding the vocals. On occasions we have just got the drummer to drum something, anything, and we have written a song around that. This has seemed to work so far so why change a winning formula. Neil's favourite song is A New Beginning, Jason's is Unusual Things, Dan's is a song called Life's a Mile Away (not on the c,d) and Clive's is Carburettor. I hope you enjoy our stuff! |
