Artist History Les Hofmeister is a long way from the place he one called home. This Cleveland resident was born in Cape Town, South Africa and lived there until the age of ten. His parents, both missionaries, eventually moved the family to America to fulfill a call they felt on their lives. Les has lived in Tennessee, South Carolina, California and Aurora, Ohio, on a farm that Les says they called Freedom Farm. He was forced to endure the nightly church gatherings held there, and be witness to what he was told were “exorcisms and the casting out of sicknesses.” The over zealous extremities of the church eventually caused Les to become resentful at being exposed to such things and he became rebellious. Les tells a wild story of his growing up years. The kind of story movies are made of. Singing and writing his own songs since the age five, it wasn't hard for Les to figure out what direction he wanted his life to take. Raised on a steady diet of Elvis and Jimmy Swaggart, and what Les calls “back porch blues,” the singer was well on his way to finding his own musical identity. “ I feel like I understand people well because of what I've been through. I want to be able to help them through my music. I've got a lot to say and perhaps it doesn't show in one song, because of the simplicity, but I believe it gains curiosity.
