Artist History
From the earliest stages of his life, Herb has been surrounded by music, singing alongside his musician father since the tender age of five. The death of his father in 1986 when Herb was only twelve spurred his desire to continue his father's legacy. He began teaching himself to play the guitar from an old songbook with a chord chart on the back cover. Well, that old chord chart eventually graduated to music theory classes in college, and Herb has now grown into a multi-instrumentalist also playing cello, bass, keyboard, and percussion.
"Of one thing, I am certain. Music is what God intended for me to do while I'm here. I know he has given me a talent, and it's up to me to use it."
With Herb's love for music and his clear direction, it is easy to see with his talent and ambition, he is well on his way to establishing himself and his music.
Born in Pennsylvania, Herb spent his middle and high school years in North Carolina, where his love for country music planted roots. Attending college in upstate New York, he added a bit of blues to those roots as the front man and guitarist for The Simones, a blues-based rock band in Rochester. In 1997, upon returning to North Carolina after college graduation, he gave serious attention to songwriting and composition, as well as performing frequently as a solo acoustic act in several venues of eastern North Carolina. "I've been singing and playing in one form or another for about 15 years, and have been writing since 1997." Herb's lyrics call on real-life experiences, and invoke emotions that move the heart, mind, and feet. From "Lost Time" - a tear-jerking reminder that time is precious and fleeting, to "Girls Are Trouble" - a comedic glance at big brother's advice, these songs will have you laughing and crying, and everything in between. With a flair for high-energy performance in the likes of Garth Brooks, other influences to his music include James Taylor, Jim Croce, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and George Strait. Herb currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has recently released a 10-song album, all with his own original music. In addition to writing the songs, he also arranged and produced the record. "I have spent a good part of my life traveling as a child in a military family, and now I can finally settle down and call Nashville home." As he makes his way in Nashville, playing for anyone who will listen, Herb hopes to catch the eyes and ears of the right people that recognize the potential success ready to explode.
