Artist description
Ed Gein plays a style of technical metal that takes influence from other genres such as hardcore, indie rock, and artistic ambient music.
We are a three piece with no lead singer. Each of the three members (guitar, drums, bass) sing equally. The goal of Ed Gein is
to play technical and intense music and remain true to ourselves as artists. We write what we like, we play what we like. We are not concerned
with trends or genre classifications. This is what we love...we will only play what we love. |

Artist History
in the late summer / early fall of 2001 the long running local Syracuse hardcore band, Beyond Fall,
called it quits. Beyond Fall had long ago grown stagnant and it was time to move on musically
and start something new. One guitarist got a full time job, the vocalist went on to play drums for
Ruined In A Day and Far From Alive. the remaining guitarist, drummer, and bassist of Beyond Fall went
on to start Ed Gein. in the beginning they played around with the idea of recruiting another guitarist and a vocalist
but no one seemed to fit in quite right with the chemistry that the three had built up over years of jamming with each other.
so they decided to keep it a three piece and unify the band by all singing.
Ed Gein started practicing together in early September of 2001 right after Beyond Fall called it quits.
they wrote a few songs and then in early late september/early october their drummer
went slightly retarded and decided to move to Ohio. hahaha. just kidding...he didnt go retarded...but it is still up for debate as
to weather or not he's a few bricks short of a load. anyway, he moved to Ohio to try to work out some problems he was having and to figure out
what he wanted to do with his life (girls and parents kill bands). at this time the future of Ed Gein was looking rather grim. but after about two months the big stupid idiot
realized how amazing writing and playing music is and he moved back home in late november / early december. so, Ed Gein was down two months practice time
and had some catching up to do. in the next few months they practiced like mad, wrote a few new songs, worked on their live show, and planned out the future of the band.
in february they recorded a two song demo in their practice room and and passed out about 100 tapes around town. there was definately a lot of talk going around about this new band,
and on february 23rd they played their highly anticipated first show in Syracuse at the Planet 505 with a bunch of other local bands. there were around 200 people at the show and the response
to Ed Gein was amazing. the pit exploded right away and was crazy for the entire set. highlights included travis dancing during a sample between songs, a foreign exchange student from Belgium
throwing down and showing us a new move that we dubbed "the Belgium waffle," and of course john stripping down to his boxers and socks and tearing it up on the dance floor! definately a memorable show
and a better time than any of the Ed Gein guys could have ever asked for. what is in store for Ed Gein? who knows. possibly a tour with fellow Syracuse metal rockers Found Dead Hanging...possibly a split cd...
possibly an e.p. one thing is for sure...Ed Gein will always stay true to themselves, their music, and their edge. xxx
