Artist History
Czechy Ranks AKA Mike Czech and Jaydread have been friends for a while
now. Mike has been puttin it down for years in San Diego as a club and
mixtape DJ, on the radio on Jammin Z90's Flavor Show, and his work as a
producer, emcee, and DJ with his hip-hop crew Roundtable MCs. Jaydread
is a selecter in a reggae sound system crew called "Tribe Of Kings"
that have been rockin San Diego night clubs for over three years.
One day Jay approached Mike because he knew that there was a void that
needed to be filled in the dancehall mix tape area and he knew that
Mike was the man to help him get the job done. Mike and Jay worked on
their first mix together and it worked out well. Mike used his hip-hop
influence and finely tuned production techniques, and Jay brought his
knowledge of reggae/dancehall records. Czechy Ranks and Jaydread was
born - a mix CD of all original remixes and a wide variety of sounds
from both the hip-hop and reggae worlds. The first mix CD "Czechy Ranks
and Jaydread" dropped in 1999 and and was followed by "Rewind Selectah"
in 2000. Both are now instant classics. It was almost two years later
before they released another mix, their third installment "Two Sevens
Clash" dropped in June 2002. They did it big this time. Thirty two
tracks of hottest original hip-hop and dancehall blends ever. Strictly
the bangers, radio hits and remixes and there’s no stopping them now.
Be on the lookout for Czechy Ranks and Jaydread DJing in your area, and
the fourth installment of their mix CD series will be coming SOON! |
