    Artist description
The Mourning Glory have been known for their unique brand of "Gothi-Delic" music since 1998. Whether slithering through a somber and eerie epic or raging through heavy darkness, The Mourning Glory are firmly establishing themselves as one of Chicagoland's most desirable acts with their strong allure to Metal and Goth fans alike. "As with anything interesting and cool, this band has something going that you can't quite put your finger on, but you know you like it." (Tom Leu, Rock River Times) The Mourning Glory are currently performing and rehearsing new material for their third CD. The full realization of The Mourning Glory's truly dark nature will be evident with this forthcoming release. Featuring an overall darker feel and more to-the-point songs, the new material proves to re-define the band, who have previously been known for their trademark epics. Shrouded in mystery, The Mourning Glory are rumored to be a coven that work their charms through the eerie sounds they invoke from their respective instruments. "Fish" supplies the heartbeat that yields life to O. Siris's arterial bass guitar and Mickey Kalifornia's monster-organ keyboard sounds. With a rhythmic and melodic skeletal system established, Ashe fleshes out the sound with his seductive guitar work. Daemon D'Archangel leads this dance of life and death with his ethereal voice and poignant lyrics. While the band started off in Rockford, The Mourning Glory now call Chicago home as they branch out into other markets such as Milwaukee, Madison, Minneapolis, and St. Louis. Destined now for regional reknown, The Mourning Glory have been scouted by major labels and declined numerous recording deals while they await "the right one." In the meantime, The Mourning Glory are merely concerned with performing their material live and building their already impressive fan-base.

    Press Reviews
Tom Leu, Rock River Times ...Imagine a darker, more Gothic Pink Floyd, and you'll be that much closer to getting The Mourning Glory. Longer, epic songs with textured instrumentation prevail on this 5-track CD. This is not pop music, folks; this is for fans of eclectic and psychedelic, odyssey-type concept music. The CD’s final track, “Lilith,” clocks in at well over 8 minutes. The band exhibits a penchant for Eastern music, which has identifiably influenced certain sections of the CD. Sound effects and special effects are effectively panned left and right to give the listener a truly surreal “headphone-trip”-type experience. This five-song EP contains an eerie vocal style ranging from Roger Waters to a hard rock impression of Trent Reznor or early/mid David Bowie. Songs like the debut track “Weighs” move from softer melodic moments to blistering-fast, double-kick drum industrial sounds reminiscent of late ‘80’s Ministry from The Land of Rape and Honey album. The Mourning Glory presents the familiar feel of “Brain Damage/Eclipse” crossed with “The Machine” from Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here albums respectively. As with anything interesting and cool, this band has something going that you can’t quite put your finger on, but you know you like it. I will be very interested to hear The Mourning Glory with a full-length, well-produced recording highlighting the band’s intricate arrangements and musicianship...
