    Press Reviews
Press Houston Brothers- These brothers, a.k.a. Faircloth brothers who also play with local hipsters Les Dirt Clods and The Goldenrods, create a moody, minimal and haunting sound fit for a film soundtrack. The bros used all -- cello, lapsteel, percussion, piano, synth and more -- to create a disc titled I Take Care of You. The recording was originally made to accompany a theatrical performance this past summer. With Helicopter. High recommendation. Saturday, The Evening Muse. - Samir Shukla, Creative Loafing, Charlotte, NC 11.10.01 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Houston Brothers WhatÕs offered in our fair city is a smorgasbord of many really talented bands. The good thing is the Ņplay and swap sceneÓ local musicians have created to produce a harvest of side bands and projects. The Houston Brothers are one such outfit (consisting of Matt and Justin Faircloth) that creates a jazzy aura of moody, ambient sounds with warm acoustic and electric instruments. The multi-instrumentalists released i take care of you recently, and itÕs one of the most potent records to run across my desk the whole year. Š Samir Shukla, Creative Loafing, Charlotte, NC 12.19.02 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Houston Brothers / Shebang Brothers Matt and Justin Faircloth comprise this two-man project, with Matt handling guitar and Justin manning a kick drum and keyboard setup. ItÕs great indie/atmospheric honky tonk, and a great showcase for the brothersÕ impressive harmonizing. AshevilleÕs Shebang are sorta like the Donnas, playing Camaro chick rock that likely wonÕt be seen in a club this small in the future. - Tim Davis, Creative Loafing, Charlotte, NC 8.18.01 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Houston Brothers / DB Cooper Comprised of brothers Justin and Matt Faircloth (both of whom play in The Goldenrods; Justin is also in Les Dirt Clods), The Houston Brothers play a sort of mellow indie-honk perfect for the laid-back, friendly confines of Cafe Bisous, similar to some of the other offerings from the Clod/Rod collective. DB Cooper will also appear, fresh from parachuting in from another band -- a local, highly eclectic power trio IÕve been known to go on about from time to time. - Tim DavisCreative Loafing, Charlotte, NC 7.21.01
