    Artist History
Michael Earhart, one of the best guitar players in North Texas, is currently playing acoustic fingerstyle guitar; however, over his 34 years of playing he's played just about every style there is. He spent the fall of 2001 at Pineapple Recording Studios in Arlington, Texas, laying down tracks for his first radio-ready release, the solo work 'Surface Tension.' Michael is a 2002 Regional Champion in Guitar Center's Guitarmageddon contest. He competed with seven other guitarists at the National Finals at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 11, 2002. Michael's live performances are energetic and fun. He plays acoustic/electric guitar into a Boomerang Phrase Sampler. He uses the phrase sampler to record and loop his guitar parts, creating layers of sound. Using the guitar as a drum and microphone, Michael can also make loops of percussion and voice - a new type of one-man-band. 'Surface Tension', an instrumental collection, features some of the best musicians in the D/FW metroplex: percussionist Brandon Bumpas (Velvet Love Box, Daddy's Soul Donut), keyboardist/bassist Alan Davis (Boyd, Blue Sky Black), second guitar Andy Gillham (Bluesfighters, The Usual Suspects), bassist Bruce Benke (Another Fine Mess, The Sedans), drummer Stocker Travis (Another Fine Mess, Sixkiller) and vocalist Eleanor Bissell. The first track on the album, '(The Only Good) Fire Ant...' reached #1 on the Acoustic Chart during the week of May 29, 2002 at MP3.com. Michael was one of the founding members of the Dallas rock group Another Fine Mess. While he was in the Mess he shared the stage with John Nitzinger, and The Blues Brothers, and he co-wrote a song with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. Another Fine Mess captured first place at the American Music Festival Battle of The Bands two years in a row.

    Press Reviews
"...Another Fine Mess took the stage and played blazing rock 'n' roll with precision to the delight of the crowd. "They are, quite simply, the best band as far as sheer picking power is concerned," Athens Daily Review, May 19th, 2000. ------"It is difficult to convey stories and emotion without words, but Michael Earhart has succeeded in putting the fullness of his music onto the restraints of a shiny plastic disk with the same passion of his live performances. His new release, Surface Tension, is the proof." The Community News, June 27, 2002.
