Artist description
BEYOND THE BARS are a south Wales based band, whose music has been described as "folk-rock" and even "folk with attitude!" Such raw descriptions belie a wide range of influences: the Incredible String Band, Dylan, traditional Celtic music (with regard to musical roots) and many literary roots also. The diversity of tastes, interests and musical backgrounds within the band results in a very mixed and lively set. The wealth of material, with the exception of only one song, is all original. |

Press Reviews
"With hushed folk music the preferred alternative for many, neglected South Wales band Beyond the Bars should be making the most of their bankability. Drawing on the Incredible Sring Band and Bob Dylan, these acoustic pastoralists forge plaintive folk that's as gritty as it is graceful. Tracks such as Spring Fair and White Hotel share a similar caressing tranquility to modern day folkies such as Beth Orton."

"Drawing inspiration from many different musical sources, Beyond the Bars combine them all to produce an exciting, fresh and unique style of their very own"
Penarth Times
"Beyond the Bars have a unique style and attitude to life! Their songs are intelligently constructed and spiritually enhanced. Even in an unplugged session on my show, I was impressed by the quality of the songwriting and performance of this band"
Steve Johnson - Valleys Radio
"Beyond the Bars - a cracking cocktail of celtic wizardry and electro-acoustic folk rock charm which transcends the ordinary and brings listeners a beat closer to the extra-ordinary. With their reverie invoking songs and music, they transported the audience to faraway dreamscapes with magical melodies"
