Artist History
Born in the Island of Commonwealth Dominica, playing
in a band wasn't for anybody.
When you went to play a dance, you have to be able to
hold a calypso rhythm steady for at list an hour for
each song. And dances never end until sun rise.
I found out that no matter how pro you are, not any
body can play a calypso rhythm.
Well,I know how to make West Indians wine.
At the age of 14yrs,I started playing all around
the little Island.
I came here in 1973 and formed a little band with my
bothers named "The Belltones." Even though we were inexperienced,
I saw Canadians wine to the bones.
Then we met some musicians from all over the caribean Islands
and changed the band's name to "The West Indies Connection"
At this time,we were playing only disco music which
we were very good at.
The band members got less and less,so we regrouped and
called ourselves the "Tribal Funk." We were very successful
with the disco beat.We recorded only one 45rmp.It didn't
do any thing for us.But when we played in a city, we
were the talk of the town."I have seen very long lines
coming to see me (us) play!"
Our band had rhythm. The calypso rhythm were always there
no matter what we played. When we played, dust would lift
up on stage.I can remember one night, looking at my
partner on the other side of the stage, strumming away with a big
smile on his face, his fingers were bleeding.
Now as a new man,a born again christian,my music is
all about love and God's creation.
There is no negative in my music, and I have nothing
to do with negative people.
The greatest discovery that a man can make,is to know
God.Achieved!
From the heart.
