Artist History
2 Phase Method (now 2PM) was formed in the summer of 2000 by classmates/best friends/guitarists, Nick Yunis and Trevor Astey, with the sole purpose of having fun and offering people a new, original sound. They jammed with a drummer for a month or so before another good friend and schoolmate, Javier Mendez, (Formula for Failure drummer), decided to join the band, temporarily. 2PM went through three different bassists to finally stay with the one they had first ever practiced with, Bjorn Goller-Hagood, who had mysteriously disappeared for 2 months. The guys later found out he had been abducted by UFO’s, no kidding. The band composed three songs with vocalist Yamil Rivera (found through the internet) by the end of that year. In March, they played their first show at the “Battle of the Bands” at Columbus High School, as an opening act (alongside recently signed Roadrunner artist, “Twice the Sun”), immediately after which Yamil decided to leave the band because of music style differences. During these dark, instrumental times of silence, drummer Javier decided to stay in the band and help out with not only the drums but also the vocals. Nick later joined as a backup singer as well. 2PM did not settle for anything average and took about four months finding a replacement singer, to finally let Huston Carcamo in the band, June of 2001. Shortly after, they finished their set and made an entrance to the South Florida local scene early September, 2001. About a year later, keeping tradition, they played the legendary "Columbus Battle of the Bands", (this time as the headlining act), and won first place! Their newly established fan base grew show after show, as the band worked hard to write more and more new music, keeping their fans entertained. In the summer of 2002, with a whole new renovation, including the official name shift from “2 Phase Method”, to simply: “2PM”, they have started from scratch, with a new bassist (Nick Espinosa, who also attends Columbus High School), and all brand new songs. Their music is now more vocally driven, simpler, catchier, and groovier, though it still stays true to itself, by being more than anything, SEXY. Check them out at a show near you, as their new set of songs is almost ready to be exposed. |

Press Reviews
One of the newest bands to hit the South Florida scene, the band features ex Formula For Failure drummer Javier. This band brings to you a prime example of what nu metal should be, hard music and well organized lyrics balanced. The band has excellent talent and the diversity of influences is also something that shouldn't be overlooked. Check out the 2 Phase Method website for more info on the band. -Miami Metal, Band of the month- November, 2001.
...Their music is lively and energetic. Seeing them live gets you so hyped in no time you'll see a mosh pit form. They compose very interesting songs... -Outloud newsgazine, March 2002 |
