Artist History OSSIAN takes life like an alien, indipendent, self-sufficient organism in the boring and far-away South of Italy (Bari). Through its riddled membrane it strains every moods: happiness, fear, distress madness, boredom spiting they back in a mix of sounds, noises and frequencies that shape the air in invisible figures eyes cannot realize. A contaminated, polluted sound, a melting pot of bastard death/thrash/noise-core riffs, industrial beats, electronic moods, post-metal grooves, crossover digressions. "NOISY ASSAULT OF VIOLENT GROOVY METAL": this is the label that better represents its attitude and its schizophrenic way of being...it could break your neck in a nanosecond and then cradle you ...it could rape you like a beast an then stroke you sweetly...it could beat you blindly and then makes your flesh creep...OSSIAN starts playing in 1995, after two years of hard work it produces two promotional-tapes of heavy/thrash kind: "Surreal Masterpeace"(Jan 97) and "Mythomania"(Jul 97) that meet good success in the underground metal scene and receive optimal reviews on the national and international press. Always in the same year OSSIAN performs two consecutive times to the PEPSI SZIGET (international rock festival in Budapest) with artists like: Slash, Iggy Pop, Faith No More, Therapy? Prodigy, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters meeting great success among the numerous international crowd. In Aprii 98 OSSIAN 's third promo-tape saw the light and the sound evolves toward the originai melting pot performed today by the band. After a positive welcome by the metal press and a change in line-up the band self-produces a Master giving life to its debut-CD: "Ecforia (mental hallucination device)". The CD is composed by 9 tracks and has been recorded at "Blu Velvet Studios" in Modena (Italy) with Logic and Pro-tools system, mixed at "Master Recording Studios" by Marco De Bartolomeo (artistic producer) and OSSIAN with Pro- Tools 24 bit mix plus, the best of digital sound! The Iyrics are in English and German and form a cyber-punk concept. The promotional copy of the CD: "Promo 00", containing three tracks has been well approved by the press and by many web-magazines and web-zines. Actually the band is working to the release of its debut-CD available in September ‘01 with the partnership of KICK PROMOTION AGENCY (promotional agency of the band) what's more it is already possible listen and download mp3 tracks of the CD or buy the whole album through the official website of the band and through musical web services.

Press Reviews CUSTOMHEAVY Gennaio 2002 When one thinks of the quiet, bucolic town of Bari in the southern part of Italy, one doesn't think of digital death/thrash hybrids. But like the Luftwaffe that started and sank seventeen Allied ships in the Bari Harbor in 1943, Ossian are making sure that peace doesn't settle on Bari without a fight. What's impressive about this band is not only it's music, but the fact that the band produced, recorded, and mixed the entire nine songs on this CD themselves. I've heard a lot of bands and my honest opinion is that the recording quality here is notably better than a lot of bands in this genre. I mean, have you ever listened to the production on any number of Obituary releases?! Eeesshh....but to give Obituary credit, ProTools was just a baby when they were in their prime. Anyway, my point is that bands are no longer bound to the realm of expensive producers. Musical instruments, a computer and some software can create magic near that of a professionally done release. Granted you have to do it right, because I've heard some God-awful mixes done on ProTools. But Ossian possess the dedication and knowhow to get it done right. A true credit to the DIY spirit and a beacon of hope for other bands who are long on talent but short on funds. The danger with using ProTools is that sometimes the "soul" of the music is sacrificed for digital quality. That is true to a degree here, but not so much that the integrity of the music is overly compromised. Ossian combine death vocals and thrash rhythms combined with a modern twist. Industrial beats, aggressive noise-core riffs and samples add atmosphere to the mix without being overbearing. It's tough to classify Ossian outside of "Brutal, fast and heavy...in a modern sense." This is what Fear Factory would sound like if they still had balls.
