Artist History
Recently voted one of the top ten hottest acts in Atlanta, GA by Jezebel magazine, Bachelor Red has been has been making serious waves in the Southeast music scene with their brand of penetrating pop songs. Influenced by female-fronted acts such as No Doubt, Blondie, and Lone Justice, classically trained front woman Rebecca Gauthier delivers the vocal intensity of Gwen Stefani, the lyrical prowess of Aimee Mann, and the sexy cynicism of Liz Phair to create melody-driven music for the masses.
“This is straight up pop just the way I like it…Rebecca’s vocals fold into her band in a perfect power-pop blend”, enthuses Steve Craig from Atlanta’s #1 alternative radio station 99X. Tracks such as the roots rock influenced “Reconsider” and the upbeat, catchy “Pour Me” off of Bachelor Red’s self-released, self-titled debut have enjoyed radio play on 99X, 96Rock, and WRAS 88.5, the largest college radio station in the country. Bachelor Red’s songs are also starting to hit the big screen; their power ballad “Starfish”, a mixture of sweeping guitars and aching vocals is featured in the independent film “Irish Eyes” starring Daniel Baldwin.
Bachelor Red has developed a dedicated fan base throughout the Southeast and East Coast by playing their high intensity live act in such well-respected clubs and listening rooms as: The Bitter End, CBGB’s Downstairs Gallery, and Arlene’s Grocery in New York City, TT the Bear's, The Lizard Lounge and The Middle East in Boston, The Cotton Club, Eddie’s Attic and Smith's Old Bar in Atlanta, GA, and The 40 Watt Club in Athens, GA. Whether Bachelor Red is playing full band electric or stripped down with an acoustic guitar, the songs speak for themselves. They have sold over a thousand disks internationally at their shows and through their website.
Bachelor Red has also participated in high profile events such as Midtown Music 2003, Atlanta Gay Pride 2002 and 2003, CMJ 2002, NOPI Nationals 2002, and Women in Music Showcase hosted by NARYST. They were also accepted into the Atlantis Music Conference 2002. Bachelor Red has performed live on Channel 46’s Good Morning Atlanta, and on the immensely popular Organic X program on 99X.
They are currently in the studio working on a full length album that will be released this summer.
