Artist History
Rhythm has performed across the nation since 1991 currently averaging over 180 shows per year. The band is made up of Reggie Scott – lead vocals & keyboard, Tim Scott – trombone & background vocals, Phillipp Scott –trumpet & background vocals, Bob Hedlund – guitar, and Drew D’Anna – bass. The Scott brothers started the band as an R&B/Funk group that concentrated on the gospel market.
They regularly played in and around Dallas/Fort Worth and enjoyed much success. The addition of Bob in 1997 then Drew brought a rock element that shocked everyone because of its seamless fit. The synergy that was quickly established created a neo-funk, rock sound that is destined to make an unforgettable impression on anyone who hears them.
The first effort in the studio by the “new” Rhythm was the EP “Atlanta Sessions” produced by Scotty Wilbanks (Third Day, Phat Chance). This three song EP included the hit song “Dreaming”. “Dreaming” received heavy airplay on Dallas’ 89.7 Power FM, went to #1 on Uncle Samoo’s Zoo Chart in New York (http://www.modernmusicandmore.com), moved over 10,000 units (incredible for an indie band!!), and unequivocally established the guys as a popular live band with radio-friendly recordings.
The heavy radio play brought a flood of requests for Rhythm to perform, so they launched the “6,513 Miles Unless We Have a Flat” Tour in 1999 and the subsequent “Atlanta Sessions” Tour with True Tunes recording artist Sycamore in 2000. By the end of the “6,513…” Tour, the guys played 50 cities in just 90 days. The “Atlanta Sessions” Tour encompassed 25 cities in 60! The two tours combined put the guys in front of thousands of fans.
Studio experience, touring, and plenty of time to bond brought a new level of maturity and song writing to Rhythm. The result of this was their first full-length CD “reaching for life”. The guys teamed with Gregg Rubin, best known as Harry Conick, Jr.’s engineer and mixer (live and studio), to produce a CD that equally represents their R&B-Funk roots and their Rock-Pop sound.
The cornerstone of Rhythm’s success has been their live show. There will never be a stage built big enough to contain these guys. One of Dallas’ most respected radio personalities, Matt Mungle, said it best -
“I never tire of watching the faces of those who are seeing Rhythm for the first time. They are captivated and a fan for life. I have had friends come up to me and try to find the words to explain what they just experienced. I just look a them, smile and say, ‘Yeah, I know what you mean.’”
Rhythm’s music is a distinct combination of rock and funk that is destined to make a lasting impression on anyone who listens. Older fans compare them to Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire because of Rhythm’s horn section. Younger fans will immediately be reminded of DC Talk and Earthsuit because of their high-energy shows and Kirk Franklin because of their tight musical arrangements and soul.
Their infectious energy, catchy hooks, and incredible sound combine to make them one of the most entertaining bands around.
Rhythm is currently in the studio working on their third CD. |
