Artist History Luiz Simas was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and has been living in New York since 1989. Composer, singer and pianist, he has performed and recorded with several well-known Brazilian artists. Many of his songs have been recorded in Brazil.A versatile musician, as a piano soloist Luiz recorded the CD "New Chorinhos from Brazil", with his original songs in "chorinho", or "Brazilian ragtime" style, as well as the CD "Impromptu", with his original piano pieces in a variety of Brazilian styles. As a singer, he recorded with his band the CD "Recipe for Rhythm", a collection of songs written in partnership with lyricist Ellen Schwartz. Luiz is also a member of the vocal/instrumental group Aluá.
