Press Reviews
http://www.jamesquillsmithband.com/reviews.htmThe Bass PlayerAustralia's Only Electric Bass Specialists www.bassplay.com THE JAMES QUILL SMITH BAND - Down To Earth (MP3SoundRecords) I first discovered The James Quill Smith Band online while surfing the WWW at http://www.jamesquillsmithband.com how I actually ended up on their web site I am not sure, must have been divine intervention. Recognised as one of the last working rock and roll bands from the 1970's the 'Quill' band proudly stands along side other surviving acts from the 70's such as The Band, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. More than a rock and roll band the Quill guys swing towards a more bluesy direction incorporating wailing guitars and swinging drum beats to throw enough of a tangent into mainstream media's music genre stamping. The James Quill Smith Band seemigly known as a rock/blues/metal/folk outfit attracting mass crowds wherever they perform. This is a release that will stand the test of time, make it a part of your collection soon. From the mouth of James himself just remember this, Only 70 Years left till the 70's begin ... DON'T BE LATE! 7 out of 10. by BRaTGiRL & RaFX If Rock and Roll had a name, it would be the James Quill Smith Band. Wyatt Cox (Backstage Live with Gary and Connie)Quill Smith has played lead guitar with such acts as Three Dog Night John Mayall, and Billy Joel. His own veteran-filled band played high octane Americana blues. Like an intoxicated Robbie Robertson fronting ZZ Top. Nick D. listen.com October 1999The James Quill Smith Band is a classic rock and roll band with its soul soaked in the blues. James and his bandmates all can boast fascinating rock histories tracing back to the '70s. For example, James Quill Smith was lead guitarist for Three Dog Night, Dr. John and Billy Joel, and he replaced Eric Clapton in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers. Drummer Sandy Nelson is a legend known for his hits, "Teenbeat" and "Let There be Drums." Jame's band churns out an original sound similar to several well-known groups, including The Band, the Grateful Dead, the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. Without hesitation, the James Quill Smith Band has managed to grasp the American tradition of foot-stomping, head-bobbing guitar-driven rock. Riffage.com November 1999 |
