Artist History
Ellen (that's me!) started the band in 1999. Originally the band consisted of Ellen and a guy called Justin. Justin moved to Thailand to find himself. Oooh, here I am!! Then Chris and Ben (our original drummer) joined. Matt was drafted in after we got chatting at a Butterflies of Love gig and it kind of went from there. Ben left in September 2001 to concentrate on his basketball career, and Matt (another Matt) took to the drum stool. And here we are a four piece Post-Folk combo trying to entertain a world in love with Dido, Travis and the wrong kind of Garage! Is there anywhere for us? Help! We're drowning in a sea of Radio One, lowest common denominator play lists. When will they wake up, the sleeping masses?!!
Anyway, the band used to be called Solar Plexus. You may know us from such Self-Help videos as 'Smoke Yourself Thin' and 'Get Confident, Stupid'. Or perhaps from the Lorna re-mix of our song The Ice House which was on the mp3.com Lonely This Christmas album and reached number 2 in the global Post-Rock/ Experimental Charts. Oooh!!! 'Ark at her!! |

Press Reviews
"Solar Plexus about knock the bollocks off any other demo in this column. Superficial and lazy...okay, more superficial and lazy...commentators would lump them in with any number of Belle & Sebastian copyists, following the folkish path to indie record-buying hearts. But the discerning listener would see that there is a naive loveliness, a learning-to-gel sheen, an essence of self discovery and a gentle intensity about Solar Plexus that you just don't get elsewhere. "Ducksong" is the pick of the three, something that wouldn't be too far out of place on my fantasy record. The one where Vashti Bunyan re-records her lost 70s classic, "Just Another Diamond Day", in my front room."
