Artist History
Threefold is a band based out of Marysville, Washington, a suburban town 45 minutes north of Seattle. Their debut album, Sinking, is a colorful blend of acoustic rock, pop, funk and a little grunge. The album features 12 original songs.
Threefold consists of two permanent members, Ben Ekstedt (drums, vocals) and Matt Nystrom (bass, acoustic guitar, electric guitar). During live performances, Ben takes on both tasks of drumming and lead vocals while Matt provides guitar and backup vocals. The band picks up Matt’s younger brother, Erik Nystrom, as a bassist to fill out the sound.
Ben and Matt began writing material in December of 2001. As time went on, the project was given the name, Sinking.
For the recording process of Sinking, Threefold turned to W. Mark Wilson of M.A.R.S. recording studio. Wilson was in charge of all recording, mixing, mastering and even demonstrated his own musical prowess by playing electric guitar and percussion on most tracks. The unique sounds of the album have been described by those close to the band as a combination of Jars of Clay, U2 and the Goo-Goo Dolls.
The band released Sinking in September of 2002 and since that time has been playing in a variety of venues. In February of 2003, Threefold was selected as a finalist in the 13th annual Washington State Christian Talent Contest. The performance of their original song, "Sinking," was one of three selections in the Groups - Youth Oriented category. Currently, they are in the process of writing new material and fine tuning an already electric live performance. |
