    Artist History
The band was started in '97 by Brian Chang (a then wanna-be guitarist) and Dan Davidson (a then and still wanna-be bass player). The first song "fruitcake" was written by Paul Davidson (another wanna-be). Mere weeks later, the acquisition of Jimmy Kinion (another wanna-be guitarist) and Meredith Loihle (the only non-wanna-be of the group) gave the band its launch into stardom. The band played at their church for a time and a short while later, Dan left for England. This marked the first and only hit for the band: Bass Players in England. Jimmy switched to bass and became a wanna-be bassist instead of a wanna-be guitarist. From then on, the band's existence was justified only by the fact that we had written that awful Bass Players in England song. After a few years of bad attempts at recording, Brian quit because he was "too good for the band" in his own words and there it ended. That is, until Meredith got the incredibly bad idea to write an album. At this point, Jimmy was not on good terms with certain member(s) of the band, so we stole Gavin Linderman, the bassist from Meredith's current band (A Moment's Peace). He turned out to be the best bassist in Ground Up's pathetically miserable history as a band. We recorded a twelve song album spanning some pretty weird genres, but always staying true to the hardly serious nature of Meredith's writing style.
