Artist History
Two generations of brothers influenced by four decades of rock! Orginally Scarlet Road was created out of the desire of Jonathan Jackson to express himself through music. He coaxed his brother Richard into joining him and forming their first band. Jonathan wrote the words and music and arranged the songs with Richard's help. The first album Jonathan made was called Homemade #1. This Album was recorded in their basement where their dad, Ricky Lee, had an eight track recording studio. Jonathan played guitar and sang, Richard played the drums and their dad played bass guitar. Their uncle, Gary, played lead on one of the tunes. They then took the basic tracks to Burke Harris at Soundtracks Studio where they sweetened the sound and did the final mix.
Before Scarlet Road happened a second album entitled "Jonathan Jackson Homemade #2" which was also started in the basement on the eight track recording system. It then moved to Soundtracks Studios, they added more songs, sweetened the sound and did the final mix. Jonathan was joined again by Richard on the drums, his dad Ricky Lee on the bass and vocals for one song . Ronn Chick, their engineer, played guitar on a couple of tunes. These albums were sold through Jonathan's fan club. In August of 1996 they had asked their uncle to join their band. This was made up of Jonathan, Richard, their dad, Ricky Lee, and their uncle, Gary. Jonathan and Richard found out Ricky Lee and Gary had a garage band back in the late 60's titled Scarlet Road and decided to adopt the name for the new band. With Jonathan and Richard's busy schedule on television it took until December 96 before they could get time off to go back into the studio to create their first album as Scarlet Road. With the help of Burke Harris and their engineer, Ronn Chick, they created the CD titled CLASH.
"Scarlet Road's next album was God Candy combining four decades of rock and two generations of brothers. Actors Jonathan and Richard Lee Jackson wrote the music and lyrics and recorded the 16 song album at Soundtracks.
The songs were written about the struggle between the beauty of women and the glory of God. Band members were Jonathan, Richard Lee, Gary and Rick Jackson.
Next for Scarlet Road came the Hope Live Concert. "First and foremost, this concert was 'all about God.' There were songs that spoke volumes in their softness, showcasing Jonathan's beautiful voice, immensely powerful in its gentleness. There were songs that rocked my world with guitar riffs that got my blood pumping and feet tapping. There were songs that made me smile, songs that brought tears to my eyes, shivers down my back, and songs that made me think. But all of them, spoke of Jonathan's love of God and more importantly God's love for all of us and the hope He brings. So as a Christian fan, it was so much MORE than just an amazing rock concert, it was a powerfully moving spiritual experience." ... (Reviews courtesy of J2... www.nufnuf.com)
Now is born "Scarlet River". "Scarlet River's debut album "This I Know", is a love song to God. In it, the band intimately communicates the Love of God through praise and worship. As David sat with his harp and sang songs of praise and thanksgiving, worship and need, so Scarlet River has set out with hearts and instruments to bring glory and worship to the One True King.
"We worship God because He's the only One worthy of it. We worship Him in gratitude."
