Artist History
Energetic, catchy rock. The simplest, yet best way to describe FallTown, a band based out of Harford County,
Maryland. FallTown originated in the mid-90’s when co-frontmen Scott Lester and Jeff Whalen met in high
school. Learning the guitar at the same time, the two started writing original music together, and dreamt of
putting together a modern rock outfit. After the usual story of the high school band fizzling, Lester and Whalen
continued to perform as an acoustic duo. The two graduated high school, and continued to write and record
acoustically when time allowed.
Still intent on assembling a band, FallTown again came to form in mid-2001 with an different lineup.
Lester and Whalen still fronted the band and handled guitar duties, but added drummer Joseph Geist to the
mix, along with bassist Martin Kramer. The “new” band began playing publicly in November of 2001, with their
debut show at The Vault in Baltimore, Maryland. The band rapidly grew a following, and continued playing in
and around Baltimore at such venues as The Recher Theatre, Coconuts, The 8x10 Club, and numerous others.
Still trying to further solidify their sound, FallTown mutually parted ways with bassist Kramer in late
2002, and came into contact with current bassist Steph Podzimek. The band stands firm with their new lineup,
and has already started 2003 off right with a performance at The Recher Theatre.
FallTown incorporates many different musical styles into their original sound, not limited to rock, pop,
funk and blues. The band doesn’t want to be limited to a particular sound, drawing from influences all over the
musical map, with songs ranging from driving rock, to slower, melodic pieces. FallTown cites arists such as the
Goo Goo Dolls, Vertical Horizon, Lennon & McCartney, local heroes SR-71, and Toad The Wet Sprocket as just a
few of their influences. The entire list would take quite a while to compile.
The band is currently supporting a 5-song EP, and is preparing to hit the studio record their full-length
debut. Extremely content with their newfound tightness personally and musically, FallTown intends on blistering
the region with their art.
