Artist History In the spring of 2001 Jason ran into Dallas while blading in Fulda MN. He told Dallas that Justin and him were jamming and really getting into NFG and Saves the Day. Dallas couldn’t believe it. “Justin was always a metal head”. Jason had been asking Dallas for quite awhile to come over to jam. After hearing Justin’s new taste in music he finally did. A few weeks later they got together and recorded 9 songs under the name “Overwaitkate”. They sent the music to Jason’s uncle (Scott Haugan, Crutchfield Publishing, helped get Bare. JR signed) in Nashville just to see what he thought. Scott was surprised at the quality of the records that were done in Jason’s basement and with the songs themselves. Especially “Untitled”.. Scott told Jason "you guys really have something". Even after the news, though, the guys thought it was a joke and had planned to move on with their previous plans which was college for Jason and Justin, and a new band for Dallas. Then the music was introduced to Dustin Goerndt by his cousin Seth Nasby who was a friend of Jason. Dustin began to bug Jason about getting together with the guys and jamming, repeatedly asking them if they needed another guitarist. Finally, one day in late July 2001 all four members got together in Mankato, MN at Dallas’s new apartment. Justin and Dustin jammed and Justin finally heard the two part guitar parts he’d been waiting for. One week later the whole band, plus a good friend Scott Ossenfort, were living in a two bedroom apartment and began to write. Since then, Sundownradio has written over 30 songs, played over 70 shows, and lived in Florida for 6 months... creating a buzz wherever they go. They’ve been approached by MCA, Universal, even the same production company that manages Lynard Skynard. But, they know and understand what it takes to make a living in this industry and are not going for the gold, but to be able to play their music for many years to come. Sundownradio has just signed with long time friends of the band The Double O Project and are very proud!
