Artist History Spawned from very promising yet fledgling groups, such as the legendary San Francisco hip hop band Last 2 Serve and the bi-coastal rhyme team Double Life; L*Roneous da versifier has risen from west coast underground anonymity to worldwide underground stardom. As a solo artist, in 1998 this wordsmith reached out to the world and earned himself a significant place in the hearts and minds of independent hip hop fans with the release of the "L*chemy" single. This earned him notoriety throughout Europe, Japan, Australia, South Africa, Canada, and all across the United States (mostly thanks to college radio) for his incredible depth with lyricism, which is considered to be in a class of the elite. The acclaim held up strong in 1999 with the release of his debut LP Imaginarium. Collaborations with other independent artists, such as producer Elusive on Deceiving the Right Eye of Confusion (parts 1&2) and The Elements of a Prototype compilations, and cameos with Mikah 9 (Freestyle Fellowship), Sole, Dose One, and Sixtoo (Anticon), and (most recently with) the Seattle based duo Boom Bap have reestablished L*Roneous in other circles of prestige. And da versifier embarked onward with the DreamWeavers project, the duo of L*Roneous and Elusive. Similar to Gang Star in format (music provider and mic mechanic), the DreamWeavers guarantee to astound music lovers all over with their debut album, Implicit Thoughts. The album and the first single Subincision b/w D.R.E.AM.W.E.A.V.E.R.S/Classic Material and Hardware are available on-line at www.llcrew.com and a second single, Check Out My Mechanics b/w Behind My Brown Windows, is also available now on Tandem Records. The next chapter will begin with the dedication maxi-single, to graffiti legend and dear friend Mike Dream Francisco, From Under A Cloud (produced by Alf Diggy, L4L Records) b/w M.M.A. (Produced by Elusive), Love Taps (Produced by and featuring Gennessee), My Open Focus (Produced by Dj Pioneer), and a very special bonus track. The single, taken from the forthcoming release LR1: Purposely Powerful; the Odd-Talk LP, will be available late in the spring with the album due for release in the summer. To further the anticipation for the album, a European EP, The Dialectics, is scheduled for release in the U.K. with production done by Beyond There Crew (of "Black Hole Styles" fame on Big Dada/Ninja Tune). The buzz has been constant since the inception of the group back in 97. Were not sure if the release will be an EP or LP. There is a lot of music being created by the duo, so for now we would just like to say stay tuned Aside from the music, L*Roneous is also a dedicated writer (in a literary sense). Similar to the ride that many have enjoyed with the music, da versifier plans to captivate with his debut book of shorts and prose, My Open Focus, scheduled for release in the fall of 2002. So keep an ear to the underground (and an eye on the net), because sometimes the world above ground does not give light to artists such as L*Roneous and there are others. So as the dues are paid and foundation is laid, more will follow. Believe that.
