Artist description
Backside Slappy began its rise into the Hampton Roads music scene in 1998. The first question that usually comes to mind is;
what is “Backside Slappy” all about?
First of all, the name has two sides to its meaning. For those, whose minds are in the gutter, Backside Slappy means…SEX…you know, slappin’ that ass.
While that is certainly one of the band’s interests, the primary meaning of the name Backside Slappy has to do with skateboarding. A backside slappy is an old school skate trick that personifies the band musically (aggressive yet smooth).
All in all, Backside Slappy is all about having fun. The music can be classified as pop/punk with influences from indie rock and ska-core. Jason Bryant plays the bass guitar and provides lead vocals for the band. On the guitar is Dave Chappell, and pulling it all together on drums is Zack Smith.
