Artist description
The words, "rock" and "metal" have been broken down into so many
classifications that they mean something different to everyone.
Spikelab is definitely a "metal" band that "rocks". Not chasing after
the trend of the day and at the same time not denying them, one thing
is for sure, Spikelab is heavy, raw, and in your face, while maintaining
a thick groove that any "loud rock" listener could end up with a sore neck to.
The overdriving rhythms being put down by drummer Jerry St. Martin and bassist
Joe Conrad not only stand on their own, but also are set off by the ever
pummeling, sweet, scary, and down right mean riffs of guitarist Colin Bender.
Front man Ed Littleton caps it off by screaming about and at everything
from cops, to corporate America, to you, and even himself. Spikelab is a
band that will beat you and make you feel good about it. They came together
in the fall of 2001 after the demise of two twin cities bands
(one featuring Conrad and St. Martin, and the other Bender and Littleton).
Being friends from playing and touring on the same circuits for years, it
was just natural for Spikelab to happen. Fresh out of the recording studio
with their first, self-titled three-song effort, Spikelab will be doing a short
Midwest and East coast tour in spring\summer of 2002 and then returning to
the studio later in the summer.
