Artist History
Artist, producer, songwriter, engineer - Darius J. comes from a family of
street musicians in New Orleans. At age nine, Darius discovered a burning
desire to play the saxophone - - this was only the beginning. Nine years later, he
began producing, writing and engineering. At 19 personal tragedy hit. Darius
lost his father and both grandmothers; the three people that he loved the most.
This gave Darius J. a deeper understanding to the word pain. It is this
understanding that he uses as a platform to deliver his heartfelt messages.
Over the last five years Darius J. has worked with numerous artists, producers
and engineers including: Aaron Neville, Terrence Blanchard, N'Dea Davenport,
Bishop Paul Morton, Bill Summers, Donald Harrison, Sanchez Harley, Blessed,
Juanita Brooks, Ultra Nate, The Head Hunters, The Revealers, Cynthia
Dewberry, Joe Stark, Mike Napolitano, Tom's House, Renaissance Records,
Partners in Crime, Tim Summers, Don Sidney and many others.
Darius J's first solo CD project is Soul Endeavor that was released on his own
label I AM Records, this year. Soul Endeavor delivers cutting edge music and
lyrics that will cause the listeners spirit to be awakened and mind to be changed.
Darius J's music is created for the hip-hop generation to inspire, open minds and
change lives.
