Press Reviews
THE IRISH TIMES (IRELANDS LEADING NATIONAL NEWSPAPER)
9th May 2002
"The purpose of lounge music is to compliment
what's happening in the room, but this is
forgotten by so many loungerswhen it comes to
putting their sounds and themes together.
In the case of Dubliner Bryan O' Connor,
there's no such oversight, "The Lounge Lizard"
being a fine stab at soundtracking your
late-night pints and carousing with suitable
horizontal funk and ambient blues.
Few tracks hang around for longer than
two or three minutes, preferring to flit
between a touch of jazz and a touch of
funk before exiting stage right. There are
moments ("Escape" and "Chanting") that hint at
a Pete Namlook sense of space but, for the most
part, O' Connor prefers to dive into serene
soundtrack waters
