Artist History
The Eli and Young Band began in the fall of 1999 with singer Michael Eli Diaz and lead guitarist James Young. These two collaborated their efforts to write their own country-rock tunes and learned popular cover songs which gave them enough material to begin playing acoustical sets at local bars in Denton Texas. Eli and Young decided to create a CD titled Here's To You in spring 2000 and called upon Jon Jones to play bass, and Chris Thompson to play drums. After rhythm guitarist Bryan Tyler joins the band, The Eli and Young Band begin playing local establishments in Denton. The Eli and Young band is Denton's leading country-rock band and have a substanial crowd base there. The band adds a twist on the typical country music sound by incorporating old and new rock, folk, and blues to their music. This unique sound attracts a crowd of all ages, but mainly includes the college scene. The Eli and Young Band's sound creates a fun, party-like atmosphere that welcomes dancing and sing-alongs. Their repertoire includes a blend of originals as well as many diverse covers from country to rock. Plans for a new CD have been made for hopefully a release by early 2002.
