Artist description
The Basement Beats love to stretch-out beyond the
traditional confines of Rock music into free-form,
improvisational, poetry-performance pieces and
free-flowing flights of musical fancy: from beat
poetry to blues, from jazz to jam-band dynamics,
and from folk-rock to spacey rhythm & blues! ...
Our main goal is to get the words out and have a
blast at the same time! |

Artist History
The Basement Beats began embryonically, in 1989, in the
basement of AEOLIA Recording Studio in WAMESIT as
a collaborative venture between George Koumantzelis
and Leo Tanguay. ... Both poets and musicians, they
founded The Basement Beats as a means of expressing
themselves through their poetry as much as a means
of expressing themselves through their music. ... They
perform and record mostly originals, but are also
very well-versed in handling their favorite songs
of well-known artists, musicians, and bands. ...
George lives in Massachusetts, and Leo lives in
Maine ( after a long & fruitful stay in Colorado! ),
but they get together sporadically - with and without their sometimes fellow companions - to record at
AEOLIA and also perform live for benefit concerts
or at a local house party across the tracks!
