Artist description
Shadowdancer, formerly known as Made in the Shade,
are a 3 piece rock band from Nottingham, England,
currently playing local gigs but with plans to go
further afield. The current line-up came together
in 2002 when David Atkins (vocals, guitar)
and Dave Davies (vocals, bass) and Jez Creek
(synths, samples, drum programming)were joined by Sharon Clancy (vocals, backing vocals and percussion). Their music combines
strong lyrics with a soaring background of keyboards, bass, guitar and drums, combining melody with strange
rhythms and odd harmonies. 'We are just trying to incorporate the things that we like, from all the
wide variety of music that has influenced and
inspired us, into something a bit different, with
both melody and intensity, It could be said that
the music spans such a large range of influences
that it is difficult to categorize, but we don't
believe in limiting ourselves to playing just one
kind of music.' Live performances veer towards
the theatrical with singer David Atkins donning
a variety of masks, hats and costumes during songs
for dramatic effect. Recently stage performances
have included lighting effects and occasionally
even backing singers.
Audience members seem to be reminded of a variety
of past and current bands: The Cure, Velvet Underground,
The Waterboys, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Stone Roses,
James and Rush.
The band members are often perplexed yet
flattered by these comparisons.
Come and see them! |
