Artist History
Kristi, Dink and Larry had been talking for years about getting together a band to expand the ministry Kristi and Larry had established singing at churches, weddings, and community functions all over Northwest Florida and South Alabama. They wanted to use their talents in a new and exciting way. Now To Him began in October 1999 when at the last minute Kristi and Larry were asked to lead worship at a DiscipleNow event at First Baptist Church of Chipley, Florida. They threw a small gang of musicians together from the church plus Dink on drums and were totally excited about the idea. In 2 weeks they learned about 15 songs and did two one-hour sets during DiscipleNow weekend. It went over great with the folks that were there! They also experimented with various band names during the next several months, none of which seemed to fit. It was not until they entered a contest at the Baptist College of Florida in August 2000 that they got serious about nailing down a name. Kristi came up with Now To Him (they thought about Now2Him and NowtoHim, but ugh!!), and the verse it comes from, Ephesians 3:20, really expresses what they wanted this ministry to be about. Plus the logo they came up with looked really cool. So the name stuck.
From there we tried to keep a steady schedule of practices and events, but it was difficult to juggle all of their schedules and keep consistency. So there were several long dry spells for the band over the next two years, as well as some turnover. But the ministry came back to life again, so to speak, in mid 2001 when Kristi's cousin Ken McGinnis joined the group. Ken added a second guitar plus years of experience with bands, sound, and technical things that the rest of the group had no knowledge of (like websites, etc.). About that same time Danny Worley joined as bass player, adding still more experience, knowledge and talent. The band's latest new member is Kyle Edenfield, who will be taking over lead and accoustic guitar duties from Charlie McAdams. Charlie is leaving to pursue a career in the armed forces. We wish him well and appreciate his years of dedication to Now To Him. Kyle brings yet another set of new talents to the ministry.
Now To Him has seen many opportunities over the last two-and-a-half years to minister through leading worship, giving testimony, and performing in all different types of settings. But there is a feeling among all of the guys in the group that God is about to do something big with this ministry. We are ready to take on anything God leads us to, and we prayerfully desire to stay in the center of His will.
