The word Griot is African for story teller. The griots would pass on the oral traditions and history from generation to generation. In short the griots were the writers who spoke. The Griots style is one of Black unity and consciousness.
Mixed with a the love of true hip hop. The Griot raps about the current treatment and issues that effect Black people. And when he's not dropping knowledge, the battle rhymes take over. |
