Artist History
In 1997, Heath Coppock, Anthony Ferrentino, Alan Roble, and a friend began a musical collaboration, which became the force known as Malcontent. From this union of musicians and friends, Malcontent embarked on a campaign to take the world by storm. This movement to bring their innovatingly powerful music to the masses has seen the band tour extensively from Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe.
The advent of the new millennium saw the addition of Dave Ferreira on drums. Always looking to further their musical sound, Malcontent brought in Mike Ferreira to enhance the already tight unit by way of samples and 808's. With the line up set, and their sophomore recording "Dedicated" in tow, Malcontent continued their crusade to bring their unique and explosive style of music to the globe.

Dedicated
Released late in 2001 and hailing from the Vacaville / Fairfield region, the bounce groove, slightly hip-hop oriented sound of Malcontent put together this second EP, essentially honing their sound further into what this disc portrays. Featuring vocalist Heath Coppock, guitarist Anthony Ferrentino, bassist Alan Roble, drummer David Ferreira, and sampler Mike Ferreira, Malcontent utilizes a heavy ended, downtuned type guitar tone set to Coppock's half melody sing / half rap-type material working at a higher pitch.
Of the six full songs on this effort, there are a few highlights that step ahead of the rest of the material including "If" which opens with a drum kick and then opens up into a three step heavy roll, "Alone" which works at a quicker clip, moving the guitars all over the map with a jagged feel during the verse, "Bleed Though Me" which offers one of their stronger riffs during the main rhythm of the song as it rolls along with a healthy groove only to break into an uneven note breaker, and "Trust" which opens with a coasting rhythm.
Malcontent, with this disc, has captured a sound that works with some obviously familiar flavors, but their heavy crunch-meets-groove guitar work and hints of highly aggressive sections that bust out ahead, Malcontent holds their own within this chosen genre, giving that needed small spark to set itself apart. The production on this disc is not perfect, with the whole recording sounding a little set back and the guitars lacking a real crisp punch, but it in no way detracts from the overall listening experience. For the most part, Malcontent moves their sound towards a memorable chorus structure, trying to hook with the lyrical approach while still reeling in the raw power. And at times, they do it very well for sure.
