Artist History
Singer/songwriter Janeen Leah grew up in Denver listening to Sarah McLachlan, Cocteau Twins, Jeff Buckley, Martin L. Gore, The Sundays, Harry Connick Jr. and Heart. Her own unique musical style combines dynamic vocals, sophisticated musical structure and meaningful lyrics. Fans have commented that Janeen's energetic and engaging performances draw the audience in to her sonic realm. Says one fan, "Janeen uses sound the way painters use colors - its like her music exists its own world, and when you hear it, you want to be in that world." Another Janeen Leah enthusiast said, "I think anyone can relate to her songs. They have a great pop appeal, yet they are sophisticated enough to challenge your ear, kind of like Sting. I can definitely see her appealing to a massive audience."
During high school she trained with Susan Draus (producer, composer/arranger Vices, New York City), who helped Janeen develop her talents and encouraged her to persue her dream of a career in music. At the age of 18, she left Denver and headed to Hollywood where she enrolled in Musicians Institute.
There she recorded her debut album Melting in Hazel with up-and-coming engineer Jeremy Oswin, (whose credits include work on the soundtracks for Titanic and The Grinch) and accomplished producer Tommy Reeves.
Janeen is an experienced professional singer, both in live and studio settings. Her credits inlude: live back-up vocals for recording artist PJ (Tidal Wave Records) and Kriya (Kriya Music Records); and studio back-ground vocals for up-and-coming hip-hop group Numbs (Guapo Records).
Janeen is currently playing at clubs throughout the LA area. Copies of her well-recieved debut album Melting in Hazel are sold at shows and on this Web Site.
Goals:
Janeen's goals are for her music to be distributed through a major label and to spend as much time in the studio as possible (she has over 20 songs ready to record)! She also aspires to have her sure-hit songs in TV and film.

Press Reviews
" I was on your site this morning!!! Cool image, fits with the tunes! I think my favorite song is "Fallen", the textures on the tracks are great. My favorite vocals are on "I Melt into You" and "Strange Days". I love the vocals on "I Melt into You", it reminds me of one of my favorite vocalist's from Elisian Fields (not the death metal band :-). I love what they did to your vocals in the beginning of "Strange Days". Your over-all vocal sound is awesome, and I look for that when I search for CD's! Your band is tight, they sound like all good musician's. There is definitely a market for your voice. You have the gift of sing and song, so don't waste it!
P.S. I am really diggin' FALLEN, I am listening to it again. Incredible parts and vibes as you get deeper into the song, very inspired!"
