Artist History Once upon a time in the rural town of Minooka, Brian, Joe, and Matt went to school and played in marching band together. This was the extent of their musical interaction. In the summer of 2001, Joe became reacquainted with Brian through a mutual friend. Brian was soon invited to start writing with Shned, a band comprised of Joe and Matt. Joe had hoped to form a band on little notice with some of the brightest and most skilled musicians from the Illinios area. With Joe on drums, Matt Nelson on guitar and Brian on guitar, they sought out a bassist, who happened to be Joe's former fretless bassist Matt Mihm. The final piece was the singer. After much begging and good timing, we were able to borrow Dan Shaughnessy from the local act Klepto, who Joe found at an obscure show on campus. They had only practiced a few times, but still had the intention of recording a demo before Matt Nelson left for France. Around the same time, PJ the tabla player, also a friend of Joe's, was added. There was quite a rush to finish the cd since band members were temporarily leaving the state. They wrote three songs, the third actually in the studio. Although done quickly, the cd is a great depiction of what skilled and creative musicians are capable of. The genre they set out to promote is called Intelligent Rock, a nice synthesis between emotional, powerful rock and the technical, rational progressive rock.
