Press Reviews
what they're saying about everything after north street EP:
From leftoffthedial.com
“Imagine a bunch of guys from your college dorm
just chilling out in the hallway with their
acoustic guitars, playing casually until
something emerges sounding just about right,
and you’re half way to understanding the
sound of Chapel Hill’s Allday Afternoon.
The casualness of the music-making process
is depicted perfectly in the band’s roughly
produced, yet beautiful Everything After North
Street EP. “
“….The Everything After North Street EP is
characterized by excellent songs that could
have been performed and produced differently
so as to enhance their overall delivery.
Then again, when you trade in the boys next
door who play guitar and sing the best way
they know how for the over-produced pop rock
band, sometimes the end result isn’t so great.
Overall, Allday Afternoon is a band with great
potential and song-writing ability, and it will
be interesting to see what direction they
head from North Street . “
From raleighmusic.com
“…Songs of life and love by All Day Afternoon.
Big vocal rock sound, driven (mostly) by acoustic
guitars and simple melodies. Laid-back,
confident and always tasteful, this Chapel Hill
outfit are in a dreamy thoughtful league
of their own.”
what they're saying about open ended:
From leftoffthedial.com
"I thoroughly enjoyed this album, and I think
they did one hell of a job with their debut
full-length release. The diversity of song-writers
definitely allows for variation, albeit small,
among sounds from one song to the next.
In other words, the album didn’t get caught in
the every-song-sounds-the-same rut, so it was
easy to let the record play from start to finish.
... they’ve definitely got what it takes to proverbially
“make it,” if that’s what Allday Afternoon
is going for. "
