    Artist description
What, if anything, can one expect from life: Birth; Life, Death? Perhaps, there is more, but certainly not less. However, there are moments and things which give beauty and feeling to life. Good Music makes the spirit soar, and truly great music comes from the passion of the musicians whose dreams are revealed in their art. I believe Alive in One is one of those rare bands whose music blends the mystery of their faith within a true love of music. "Music is spiritual," says Shane; "stirring up emotions deep within our souls." Rob Franks says, "It's unexplainable: I can lay a track and just not be there mentally, yet Shane gives me a smile, and I know that is it." It is this unity of faith and friendship which makes this band so promising. Alive in One came as a result of years of hard work and soul searching. Rob and Shane's paths, however unique, were strikingly similar. They each moved from one band to the other, yet they never found exactly what they were looking for; a common ground. However, their desire to succeed never faltered, and it was this drive that ultimately saw their faith and devotion to Christ and their dreams culminate when they found each other and formed Alive in One. The foundation had been laid, and the results are outstanding judging from their debut self-titled Album. "Wow!" This was my initial reaction to "Rosarita," the first track on their debut CD. The music flowed with grace and a simple beauty. The bass licks, while underlying, are mysteriously haunting. Shane's vocals are strong and crisp, obviously carefully refined over years and years of practice. I find there is a light that radiates throughout this record, and it shines brighter and brighter with each track. The album grows on you, and with each listening, I became more enthralled. Why? When you think about it, great music comes from the soul, and who has a better grip on the soul than Christ. Shane says, "We write about what we experience, as long as it's real. Communicating through sound and lyric, what a privilege! Still, we have to ask, 'does it move me?' If the answer is yes, then you did it." Great musicians have written about death, drugs, and destruction, because that is what they know. Well these guys write for, and about Christ, for that is what they know, as well as anyone can know about the unknown. In their CD insert, they write: "Our talents are just the instruments of Jesus, and our hope is that, through him, we can have a positive impact. All else is vanity...." Jesus must be one terrific musician, for the more I listen to their CD, the more I appreciate it for it's musical qualities and simple elegance. B. Wesley Wright

    Artist History
In the foundational stages of Alive, Shane sang with "Saved by Grace". Shane had developed a vocal injury, and after a period of not being able to sing, everyone went his separate ways. He had taken a break for a short period to heal, and began retraining to improve his vocal technique. After a frustrating time of searching for the right musicians to form another band, Shane decided to go on his own as solo artist, all the while still keeping his ears open for the right people. Responding to Rob's Internet ad, "Christian Bass Player Seeking Christian Band", they began to test the waters. After two auditions with Rob, the contracts were signed and the "work" began! Shane (Vocals, Guitar) Shane's dream of being a musician has been with him as long as he can remember, even lip-syncing to some Bee Gee's albums as a child. He decided at the age of sixteen "This is it, I'm Really going to do this" and has been singing seriously ever since. His first project "Badboy Jones", a sort of blues-hard rock band, was formed in early 1991. After spending about a year playing the local Hollywood scene the band dismembered. Disputes between band members lead Shane into his next attempt, "Blackdog". Blackdog was more of a "musicians" type of situation, yet still had gotten a lot of attention because of the quality of their first demo. Shane left Blackdog in late 1993 to begin a new project with Blackdog guitarist, Dimitri Politis. Shortly after beginning with Dimitri, Shane became a Christian and realized he had a different calling on his life. The two decided to part ways and began working on other projects. In early 1994 Shane joined "Saved by Grace", his first Christian band. They played locally for a while, placing in the finals of a N.A.C.A.S. band competition. After a long period, everyone slowly began to go his separate ways, leading Shane into the path of Rob. Rob Franks (Bass Guitar) Rob's first serious band "Kraniun" was formed in 1983 and they recorded their first demo in 1984 at Public Recording. They parted in 1984 and Rob soon began his next project with Kranium's Guitarist Wiley. The band was called "Linx" and stayed together for a period. Rob became a Christian in 1988, and started playing with other Christian artists. His first Christian band was called "Kings Attack", which he had played with until the end of 1988. Soon after, he joined the Christian band "Majesty". In 1990, he joined "Paid in Full". Rob and other members of the band left to pursue other projects. In 1992, Rob joined the band "Forth Right" which had developed into the band "Jacked Up". In 1993-94, Jacked Up parted ways and Rob joined "Sevil Dog". In 1995-96, Rob and two other members left Sevil Dog to form "Kaniption Fit", which dismembered in1998. From 1998 to 2000 Rob continued to search for like-minded Christian artists. After a time of seeking God, Rob met Shane through an Internet ad and Alive was formed! Dustin Wise (Drums, Percussion) Dustin and Rob had actually played together in the Band "Sevil Dog". This was the first project the two had participated in, but certainly not the last. Dustin began his drumming career in Jr. High School as a means of staying out of trouble. He couldn't afford a drum set of his own so he would bang out beats on his parents phone books. After driving his sister crazy, she finally convinced their family to purchase his first drum set, of which he still plays the same Hi-Hats to this day. Dustin continued his pursuits as a drummer into high school where, at fifteen years old, he played in a reggae band with his bass instructor. At seventeen he joined "Sevil Dog" and the partnership between himself and Rob began to take root. The two shared the same hard work ethic, which caries on today. After a time the band dismembered and they began work on another project together. Through a frustrating time of trying to find the right vocalist, the partnership was put on hold. Dustin continued in a project with "Sevil Dog's" vocalist Van, which led to another disappointing breakup. Now, after a time of seeking and prayer, God has brought Dustin and Rob together again in their current project "Alive In One". Jessie Garza (Guitar) Participating in the Hollywood scene with a number of bands, Jessie's life was changed during a time of frustrating worldly passions. He found himself in the embrace of God's mercy and grace. After he and his wife were married he embarked on a road of seeing himself in the music ministry of his life, Worshiping his Heavenly Father and leading others to the very throne room of God. With the gifts God had given him; his instrument-the guitar and his wife, he began singing and writing songs to express his inner love for his Heavenly Father and his eternal home bought by the blood of Christ. Jessie has led many worship groups and played lead guitar in two Contemporary Christian bands; one of which was "Sevil Dog", along with Dustin and Rob. He has traveled with his wife as a duo, leading worship for various Pastors' conferences, as well as participating in a number of Native American ministries. Jessie has also headed up worship ministries in three different churches. Jessie's desire to affect a wide range of individuals has again led into the paths of Rob and Dustin. As the final member of "Alive In One", the groundwork is finished! Alive is a band dedicated to the LORD Jesus Christ and the exalting of his name and word. Our goal is to create positive, quality music that is both well written, and Glorifying to the LORD.
