THREE SUMMERS GONE – “Time Well Spent” CD
I first heard these guys a couple years ago, when they were still trying to develop a style. As eveidenced by this CD, they’ve evolved by leaps and bounds. Moving well beyond their Fat inspired beginnings, they’ve developed into a powerful melodic emo band. They rock especially well when employing their soulful, angry harmonies and creating tension with their two guitars winding snake-like around each other. They generally avoid the meandering, melancholy pitfalls of fellow emo bands by keeping their velocity and impact high. The only drawback occurs on the few songs where they try to cram too many parts into a single track, whether they are necessary or not. Luckily though, this happens little. The quality of playing and heartfelt intensity makes this one of my favorites of the month. (BG)
