Artist History
Telling Downs first appeared on the San Francisco scene in the summer of ‘98. Driven by the powerful vocals of singer, Joshua Young and original songs of writer/guitarist Peter Scott, the band gained quick appreciation for its compelling performances and well-crafted sound. The rhythmic beat of drummer Tony Ross and bassist Chris Solberg round out the band’s full-bodied melodic power pop that has captured the attention of their San Franciscan audiences.Telling Downs’ music features a combination of Scott’s unique and original chord progressions with the alternately breathy falsettos and chesty growls of Young’s vocal passages to give their unique brand of pop a forceful appeal. The band is continually recording and adding new songs to its fully original set. With a performance that alternates between powerful rock and moody ballads, the band delivers a mature sound that belies its brief history. The band issued a full-length CD in June 1999. |
