Artist description
Slim Whitman meets Slayer, with a beautiful love ballad. Proud to be from Texas. It's been said that dead horse blended a rare mix of aggression and humor with a pop like sensibility. No one ever expected them to be huge stars, but those who experienced them have not forgotten. |

Artist History
Formed in 1987/88. Recorded a few demos. Released a self financed record in 1989 (Horsecore: An Unrelated Story That's Time Consuming). Toured East and West, gained a loyal following in Texas, Montreal Canada, Denver, Indianapolis and more. Signed to Big Chief Records who were distributed by Metal Blade via Warner Bros. Everything seemed great. Summer 1991 saw the release of Peaceful Death And Pretty Flowers. The band broke attendance records at local clubs. Everyone was wearing dead horse t-shirts (Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Faith No More, Pantera). A big tour with Entombed and Exhorder in April & May 1992. A turd on a plate. Big Chief went out of business, the booking agent changes agencies and the manager wanders off into the sunset. Things slowed down. In 1994 the band released another demo titled "FEED ME".Soon after Michael decided to leave the band. Two years later dead horse has a new member and a final release "Boiling". No comment!!! |

Press Reviews
Michael Haaga's lyrics on this sophomore effort are amazingly poetic in a cheap, apocalyptic way that's part Jim Morrison, part homeless mental patient talking to a park bench..."Primitive and futuristic", there's only two other bands I reguarly use that description for: Slayer and Nirvana. dead horse is as smart as they are. : Tom Nordlie / RIP MAGAZINE Aril '92 USA....Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal Band : HOUSTON PRESS Aug. '92 Houston....Band Of The Year / PUBLIC NEWS Mar '92 Houston....If any group can build on the no-spandex honesty that has taken Metallica to the top, and perhaps make thier own morose sub-genremore accessible along the way, it's these Houston boys. : Mirror Nov.
