    Artist History
Clabbergirl is a 4 (or 5 depending on our mood!) piece rock band based in Cincinnati playing all-original Rock and Roll. The band has a diverse set of influences, including Elvis Costello, Robert Pollard, and Cincinnati's own Rob Fetters (Psychodots,Raisins) and the Afghan Whigs. Clabbergirl formed in Cincinnati in the fall of 1994. In 1995, they were selected by influential college radio station WOXY as one of the top twenty unsigned bands in the tri-state area for their first single "Happy Again." The band continued writing and performing, and went on to be selected again in 1996 and 1997. Each year, one of Clabbergirl's songs have been featured on the station's annual compilation album, including the singles "Be Around" and "Missing Ramona." Today, the band has released a new full-length entitled "I Feel Pretty", which is nominated for CD of the Year by the Cincinnati Enquirer CAMMY awards. The band performs regularly in Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisville, Chicago and Dayton. You can hear them on college and local radio stations and online at various Internet music sites.

    Press Reviews
Cincinnati Post:"I Feel Pretty...finds these clever musicians and writers with a tremendous 13-cut collection of thrashing power rock originals that cries out to be cranked up.” Cincinnati Post 9/21/01 Splendid E-Zine: 1/31/02 "Clabbergirl are at heart a power-pop band, and that's a good thing for those of us easily suckered by spiky guitars anchored to catchy three minute tunes. "Wait" and "Let You Down" are unadulterated pleasures, as are most of the other eleven tracks on I Feel Pretty." Citybeat Magazine: "I Feel Pretty is the power pop album of the Year" December 2001 Citybeat Magazine, Cincinnati: "Clabbergirl relies heavily on solid, catchy songs, wrapping them in a Buzzcock's-like energy and a subtle sense ofbittersweet urgency." Big Beef & Beer Web Site, Columbus: "As we listened to it we discovered a small treasure of great music. I rate the music 4 (out of 5). Great beat, vocals, and all original. A must for any collection. NUVO Newsweekly, Indianapolis: "the group will be giving away copies of a special holiday single of a new song called "Please, Daddy (Don't Get Drunk This Christmas)." The song is way cool in and of itself, but even better are the two demos of songs slated to appear on the band's next album, I Feel Pretty, which is scheduled for a March 2000 release." Big Beef & Beer Web Site, Columbus: "Christmas came early for this music reviewer. Just for being a fan of Clabbergirl, I received their 3 song EP featuring a special Christmas song. Please Daddy (Don't get Drunk This Christmas) is an anthem for all dysfunctional Christmas celebrations through out this great land and the world over. This is a cover of the little known John Denver tune. Clabbergirl's version has an early eighties west coast punk style reminiscent of The Dead Milkmen. It's destined to become a Christmas classic. The second song, Wait, has an anxious, awkward angst feel to it. A feeling that is all too familiar to anyone who just can't seem to find any closure with a former lover. It solidly captures that feeling with steady, driving guitar and automatic rhythm. A great song. Finally, Don't Forget Her, is a song I can't seem to put my finger on. I can't quite decode it. It is however the most musically mature song of the three. It is more finely polished than the rest. Clabbergirl puts everything together on this song, I especially enjoy the lead guitar featured on Don't Forget Her. Clabbergirl is going into the studio after the new year to record their forthcoming release I Feel Pretty. If Wait and Don't Forget Her are tastes of good things to come, I look forward to Pretty's release. Tim and I hope to catch a show this spring. We'll make it an official Big Beef and Beer event!"
