Artist History
Bughouse grew out of a collaboration between Dave Dixon and Alex Kassim, who had been in several bands together before in Las Cruces, NM. They began experimenting with the application of post-modern ideas to music, using primarily samples. This line-up released Bitter Reward as a locally available cassette, and played a few shows, including one at the house of Tim Martin, who later joined the band. The focus of the music shifted from cutting up samples to sequencing, although the vocals remained as raw as ever. This line-up released September. When Dixon left to pursue other interests, Cassidy King was brought in to write and perform vocals. King brought an experimental element to the vocals and a more obscure style of lyrical writing, less traumatic but just as primal. The band recorded That Hideous Strength, a name stolen from C.S. Lewis. For the past two years the band has been on extended vacation, while Kassim and Martin have pursued an interest in ethnic electronica in the band Sounds of Azul. |
