Artist History
Atomsplit: It’s the big bang theory translated into rock-punk-pop with a molecular structure consisting of extremely contagious songs, expert musicianship, and a helluva an energetic stage show.
In late 1997 the Atoms first Split and exploded on the Southeastern music scene with a self-titled EP that Creative Loafing called "a sizzling little self-produced six song wonder". The release included two award winning songs. “Millisent”, which won a Finalist Award in the Best Rock Song Category of the 1997 Atlanta Songwriters Contest and “SO OVER YOU” which won Best Rock Song in 1998 at the Georgia Music Industry Association’s Songwriter’s Showcase.
In 1999 Atomsplit signed with Southeastern indie label and Shut Eye Records and released their first full length CD “One Ton Suit” to even greater success. Charted CMJ (College Music Journal), national and international sales, rave reviews (CMJ called the CD “what power pop should be”), and a number one downloaded track (“Tune In Tokyo”) on MP3 for many consecutive weeks made the release the label’s most successful to date.
In 2001 and the sparks continue to fly with a new Atomsplit Shut Eye release titled “Gangway”. The four song disc reached new songwriting heights for the group and the EP soared into Top 10 Heavy Rotation on nationally known and respected college radio station WRAS 88.5. The video for the single “CrashDown” (filmed at Turner Studios by ex-WCW director Kip Bissell) finally captured the true essence of an Atomsplit performance and has further helped expose the band to indie music fans across the country.
With another full length release planned for Fall 2001, the big bang continues as Atomsplit continues to write and perform their original brand of music to the world. |
