TAI
COMBINE: one beautiful young lady possessing unique vocal talent with equal parts of upbeat groves and touching ballads; add touches of jazz and Pop/R&B Hip-Hop flavor with funky beats, and a unique visual image –
Yields: one exciting entertaining female singer… Tai!
"My music is R&B with a touch of Jazz and R&B flavor," says Tai, the multi-talented young lady known musically as Tai, "I look at music as a form of expression and a way to evoke feelings and emotions in others."
At the age of five, Tai began to sing publicly and learn her craft. "I like to think that I sing the kind of music that appeals to different age groups: the teens can relate to the R&B Hip-Hop undertone that my music provides; while the older crowd can get into the nostalgic R&B style and jazz flavor of my vocals," says Tai.
On August 12, 2001, Tai beat out several hundred contestants for a chance to become the “2001 Summer Jam Opening Act” with the performance of a song she wrote and co-produced entitled “Make it Hot” (number 4 on CD). That performance gave her the opportunity to perform on two episodes of Bet’s “The Way We Do It.” Tai recently opened for Case in Louisville, KY at the request of Gerald Harrison, Musical Director for B96 Radio Station where her single “Simply Beautiful” (number 1 on CD) is in rotation. The audience loved her performance and the promoters for the radio asked her to come back and do an encore. Tai is featured on rapper, C-Murder latest CD on Priority Records; she was featured on 100.3 the Beat with Steve Harvey (a sample of those performances are also on the enclosed CD). Tai has toured with Coolio; appeared on the Jay Leno Show; open for Billy Preston at the Century Club in LA (which she says, was one of the highlights of her young career) and featured in Palm Springs, CA during the Urban Network Conference.
Aside from attending Pasadena City College and majoring in Music and Broadcasting, Tai is in the studio weekly producing or co-producing tracks and writing songs for herself as well as "Maximum,” a dynamic 3-girl group she has put together.
