Artist description Laguna Stardust puts down a lot of effort regarding both the music and the lyrics, and you will find a mix of fun and genuine musicality. Among the sources of inspiration, there are a few bands that are worth extra attention: U2, Smashing pumpkins and Soundtrack of our lives; which indicates that we are dealing with rock that doesn’t leave anybody unaffected. Laguna Stardust is an excellent live act that deliver their moody rock with lots of energy.

Artist History Laguna Stardust ”One of the city�s most renowned unsigned bands” - G�teborgskalasets programfolder, 2001 Laguna Stardust, Gothenburg, Sweden (1999): Vocals: Johan Dahlman Guitar: Fredrik Johansson Keyboards: Martin Dahl Drums: Joseph Skans�s Bass: Magnus Hyd�n The music of Laguna Stardust that you can hear on the upcoming debut album, ”Facing forward - looking Back”, released on Dead Frog Records this fall (2002), has been described as ”an expensive escort girl”, referring to the band as ”a class act but still with a raw edge to it”. Their music gives the listener an experience of atmosphere and subtlety mixed with energy made for stadiums as well as small intimate clubs. The influences you might notice will span from bands like U2, Smashing Pumpkins to Soundtrack of Our Lives. To get back to the first seed of Laguna Stardust you will have to go through a change of names and drummers. The friendship of Johan Dahlman, Magnus Hyd�n and drummer Magnus Andreasson resulted in a band called ”The Jaywalkers” 1998. A few months after Fredrik Johansson and Martin Dahl gave their touch to the sound (1999), Magnus Andreasson left for Hardcore Superstar and the band played with various drummers. In October 2000, drummer Joseph Skans�s (ex. Green Jesus Saviours) received a call from the band and he decided to accept the offer as the new drummer. That started off the period when the band, instead of rushing out to find gigs, decided to spend time rehearsing and building a strong foundation based on quality songs and friendship. During that period they developed their sound and identity, which led to the change of names to Laguna Stardust. So far the band has been quite active performing live, extra worth mentioning: They have opened shows for Hardcore Superstar, Bad Cash Quartet and 2001 they performed on the ”Popstadscenen” before Sahara Hotnights. If you missed them live, you might have heard them on the radio: P3 Demo (2001), P3 Live (2001, 2002 (rerun)) and on various student- and local radio stations. Look out for the CD ”Facing forward - looking back” and the video ”Glue”.

H�r pratar vi om genuin progressiv musik med klara inslag av neoprog och ett uns progmetal som dock aldrig vr�lar till och n�got dubbeltrampande h�rs aldrig heller. Nej, LAGUNA STARDUST spelar en h�gst egen form av ganska avskalad, bitvis mycket vacker och v�lballanserad musik d�r varje instrument f�r ta ut sv�ngarna. Musiken k�nns oerh�rt genomarbetad vilket tyder p� en stor professionalism d�r bandet upplevs som en enhet. Detta g�r att jag spelar plattan om och om igen f�r jag uppt�cker hela tiden n�got nytt s� precis som i plattans b�sta sp�r fr�gar jag mej "Where you�ve been". Nu vet jag det tack vare Jesper Arn� i Carizma Rain som rekommenderade bandet att h�ra av sig vilket jag �r oerh�rt tacksam f�r d� detta �r �rets hittills �verl�gset b�sta demo inom den progressiva musiken d�r man kan sk�nja sp�r av s� vitt skilda storheter som U2 till SHADOW GALLERY. I Johan Dahlman p� s�ng har bandet en mycket personlig tillg�ng och n�r Martin Dahls keyboardslingor sl�pps fram lyfter det riktigt ordentligt men som redan sagt �r det som band LAGUNA STARDUST visar sin storhet som �r uppbyggd p� en stor dos �dmjukhet vilket bandets basist och kontaktperson, Magnus Hyd�n �r ett lysande exempel p�.
