    Artist description
Rob Moir, singer/songwriter/guitarist from Dead Letter Dept., has had many nicknames: Bert, Bubba Fluff, Hüventoot, The Kid, Bobby Dumpling, Fat Bob Moir, Sanchez, Fatty, Rob Moir Prostate Destroyer, and Rob Moir Divorce Lawyer. When Dead Letter Dept. were known as The Stiffs, pop-hungry Canadians would flock to their shows to hear if Rob had written any more songs about girls. Fans were shocked when Rob and Dead Letter Dept. debuted the song “Go Lucky,” in which Rob mixed the subject of girls with the then-unpopular “Internet”. In the song, Rob claims to have the ability to send e-mail to a website, and not an actual e-mail address. “Well, y’know, it’s the future,” Rob opines. “Like, you gotta get in it, or get out.” Mikey LaBlana, drummer, and Andrew Sparks, bassist, agree. “It’s the future, guy,” continues Mikey. “You have to catch up, y’know, and if you’re not chasing it, then you’ll fall behind. With our music, we incorporate elements of girls, space, toys, the Internet, and depression, and that’s why we’re not like the other bands.” Andrew pipes up: “Exactly. We’re kind of like post-euro-punk-hyper-space-power-rock for the 23rd century.” Dead Letter Dept. describe their shows as a tool to show the audience the power which thy computer has granted thou. “You can actually do banking online now,” admits Rob. “It’s neat. Today, I even checked my e-mail. I don’t care about girls anymore. The “Internet” is way hotter.” Mikey smiles, rubs Rob’s neck, and says, “I fucked you online once, and you didn’t know it.” Oh, and before I forget, their self-titled five song EP (DCD-006-2) was recorded by Mass Giorgini at his Sonic Iguana studio in Indiana. Had to put that in there. His name carries quite some weight, considering the other pop-punk records he’s done, ranging from Screeching Weasel to The Queers to 88 Fingers Louie.

    Press Reviews
"Back when they were known as the Stiffs, these guys were the cutest little men that the Toronto pop-punk scene had to offer. Now, they're older and wiser and have changed their name, but they still crank out the pop sounds that got them noticed in the first place. This is perhaps their finest release to date -- most likely the result of hours spent on tour building character, as well as making a move to Chicago to record with Mass Giorgini (Screeching Weasel, 88 Fingers Louie). This re-introduction shows that they have definitely got their shit together." -Eye Magazine, Toronto
