Artist History
The band, first signed to MCA Records back in the 80s, were one of the first NJ bands to gain national recognition through their MTV video “Boys Can Cry.” This led to 2 national tours and much acclaim amongst the music press. In 1997 Renaissance Records re-released the bands first album on CD In 2001, The Catholic Girls song, Someone New was included in a German box set collection honoring the great bands of the 80s, appearing along side other great pop artists such as Bon Jovi and Pat Benatar.
With this re-release of their first album and the launching of The Catholic Girls website (www.thecatholicgirls.net) a whole new generation of fans, promoters and club owners started making inquires into the possibility of the band making a new album and performing once again. As a matter of fact, there was so much interest that founding members Gail Petersen and Roxy Andersen decided it was time to put the band back together. This led to the recording of their latest release Make Me Believe. |
