Artist description
the tale of sukebe gaijin goes back to april 5 2000 in the far-away land of japan. on that
evening, three foreigners (gaijin) and one japanese musician got together at studio m in
kashiwa, a town near the metropolis of tokyo. between the four of them, they had a couple
of guitars, a bass, a drum set, and no preconceived notions of the musical madness that
was to follow. well, it turns out that they were pretty satisfied with the sounds captured on
that first tape. so much, in fact, that they continued to play together in various line-ups and
with various instrumentation until october of the same year. on this double-disc set, the
listener will hear a tiny fraction of the music recorded over those six months. covers ranging
from musicians diverse as tito puente and the beastie boys. originals covering such varied
topics as feminine hygiene, ganguros (a phenomenon unique to japan), and mules.
so sit back, grab some nihonshu and enjoy the noise. |
