Artist History
The Siderunners, didn‘t grow up in the country, don't ride horses, and don‘t pretend to, but they do play country music and are proud of it.
The Siderunners started in the early months of 2000 in Chicago Il. It happened by accident when Pat, Nate and Sappy, all of whom always wanted to be in a country band and needed an excuse to drink on a Tuesday nights with some friends, started getting together and playing whatever country song they knew from memory. The list got shorter as the nights went on and pretty soon they started writing their own songs out of respect for the dead. With a handful of originals and an arsenal of standards they started playing weekly as the house band in various dives.
Soon after, The Siderunners caught the ear of Failed Experiment Records who on June 4, 2002 released their first album, “Ain’t Inventin’ The Wheel.” Recorded by Neal Ostrovsky of the Webb Brothers, “Ain’t Inventin’ The Wheel” is the culmination of years of neuroses channeled through The Siderunners embarrassing number of influences rooted in old country music, metal, punk, chamber music and confusion.

Press Reviews
The Siderunners, "Ain't Inventin' the Wheel" (Failed Experiment) ***
Country music as it was meant to be played (and often is in Chicago's
thriving alt-country underground). The Siderunners are gritty, gutsy,
not afraid to get down and dirty, and tipsy enough that they ought to
be forced to call a cab instead of driving home.
JIM DeROGATIS - September 27, 2002
