Artist History
The band started on December 11/1985 when Jon Christian
played a solo performance at The Rivoli. All that was used was
a metal Coca Cola sign with contact mics on it. It was passed through a Marshall
time modulator. That was it. It wasn't until the following
summer that Varoshi Fame was formed after they got a
break to back up Psychic TV at the Diamond Club in Toronto.
The show was only half an hour long. This time Deborah Forbes sang
while her husband, Jon Christian, and Hugo(drummer for Sturm Group)
joined along on drums and metal. Jon also used backing tapes. The
crowd went balistic. There are some who say they blew
Psychic TV off stage. Whatever the case it was the beginning of a
prolific period for industrial music in Toronto and Varoshi Fame were
the most definitive industrial band in Toronto. |
